WaveSplitter Announces New Chief Information Officer

Seasoned IT Executive Bharat Poria Joins Top Management Team

FREMONT, CA - January 31, 2001 - WaveSplitter Technologies, Inc., a worldwide supplier of fiber-optic components for optical amplifier and DWDM systems, today announced the appointment of Bharat Poria as Chief Information Officer (CIO) to champion WaveSplitter's information technology and information office efforts. Poria will be instrumental in extending the company's existing IT infrastructure.

As the CIO, Poria brings over twenty years of technical operations and management experience to WaveSplitter. He has an extensive background in developing and building global technology organizations and large-scale infrastructures. He has been responsible for managing and leading several successful companies in information technology including Aspect Communications, Philips Semiconductors, and Wares Technology Corporation. Most recently, Poria was a Senior Director of Information Technology at Aspect Communications where he led the IT department in building a world-class infrastructure by creating the IT roadmap, introducing and implementing global enterprise architectures, and negotiating major global enterprise contracts with key partners. At WaveSplitter, Poria will be responsible for enterprise operations, architecture and technology strategies, and business applications and change management.
