WaveSplitter Announces New Vice President of Engineering
Seasoned Telecom Executive Frank Liang Joins Top Management Team
FREMONT, CA - December 12, 2000 -WaveSplitter Technologies,
Inc, a worldwide supplier of fiber-optic components for optical
amplifier and DWDM systems, today announced the appointment of Frank
Liang as Vice President of Engineering to champion WaveSplitter's
fused-fiber product development efforts.
With over fifteen years of experience in the fiber optics industry,
Frank Liang has an extensive background in developing and manufacturing
fiber-optic components, instrumentation, and manufacturing automation.
Prior to joining WaveSplitter, Liang was a Senior Director of Photonic
Technologies at E-Tek Dynamics/JDS Uniphase where he led the engineering
department in product development of fiber-optic components and
integrated modules, yield improvements, and manufacturing automation.
As one of the earliest employees at E-Tek, he was a key contributor
in building infrastructure and ramping product development and processes
as the company grew.
His professional accomplishments include designing, developing,
and building the world's first fiber-optic coupler production workstation
for a high-yield mass-production environment, developing scalable
semiconductor laser diode life test systems for pump laser testing,
and creating manufacturing automation systems for collimators/DWDM
filters. He also led engineering teams to develop several new fiber-optic
components and custom modules such as interleavers, AWGs and integrated
modules. His accomplished career also includes being awarded several
patents in manufacturing automation and tunable laser sources. As
Vice President of Engineering at WaveSplitter, Frank will spearhead
initiatives to develop new fused-fiber devices, enhance manufacturability
for volume production, and boost productivity improvements.
