Product Capabilities and Value
Long-haul and metro DWDM networks require components that route signals onto and off of the backbone. Thin-film filters provide a convenient way to add or drop a single channel with channel spacings of 100 and 200 GHz. The WaveSelector offers high drop and pass channel isolation, low insertion loss, and an epoxy-free optical path to ensure reliable performance.
The WaveSelector uses thin-film interference coatings on a glass substrate mounted between a pair of fiber collimators. This device is manufactured with an epoxy-free path to avoid power handling concerns and contamination within the optical path. This component is inherently bi-directional and can be used either to add or drop signals. This 3-port filter can be easily cascaded to multiplex or de-multiplex multiple channels in an all-optical WDM network. WaveSelector wavelengths are available on the ITU grid at channel spacings of 100 and 200 GHz.
